What is PT Lab?

A quick overview of what the platform does and who it's for.

Updated April 12, 2026

PT Lab is an AI-powered exercise programming platform. It has two sides: one for self-coached individuals who want AI-built workouts for themselves, and one for fitness coaches who want AI to help them program for clients.

What the AI actually does

You give it context — your goals, restrictions, equipment, training history, how you're feeling today. It generates a complete workout routine with specific exercises, sets, reps, weight suggestions, and form notes. Over time it learns from what you've logged and adjusts.

It's not a chatbot. It doesn't answer questions in a text box. It produces structured workouts you can log sets against in real time.

Who it's for

  • Self-coached individuals — people who train on their own and want better programming than generic workout apps.
  • Personal trainers, coaches, and trainers — professionals who want AI to write the first draft so they can spend their time coaching instead of building routines in spreadsheets.

What it costs

Both free tiers are free to sign up and use with no credit card. Self-coached free users get 3 AI generations per month. Coach Starter accounts get 3 clients and 10 AI generations per month. Free plan limits and availability are subject to change — see our Terms of Service.

Paid tiers exist for people who need more — more clients, more AI calls, team features. Those aren't required and you're never forced to upgrade.
