The rules of using PT Lab. Written in plain language so you can actually read them.
PT Lab (“Performance Training Lab”) is an AI-assisted exercise programming platform for strength coaches, gym and CrossFit box owners, content creators, and self-coached athletes. It helps coaches build personalized workout routines for their clients using AI suggestions, which are reviewed and approved by the coach before delivery. Self-coached users receive AI-generated routines directly, with an on-screen disclaimer that the content is AI output.
PT Lab is a fitness and training tool. It is not a medical records system, an electronic health record, a clinical documentation platform, or a HIPAA-covered service. It is not a substitute for a licensed healthcare provider and is not designed to support the workflows of licensed clinicians.
PT Lab is designed for:
PT Lab is not designed for use by licensed healthcare providers as a clinical documentation system, nor for any workflow subject to HIPAA obligations. If you are a licensed healthcare provider, you may not use PT Lab as your primary clinical record. You use the platform at your own discretion and are solely responsible for any compliance obligations in your jurisdiction.
You must be at least 18 years oldto create an account. By signing up you confirm you're 18 or older and legally capable of entering into this agreement. You also confirm that: (a) you're not located in any country subject to a US government embargo, (b) you're not on any US government prohibited-party list, and (c) your use of PT Lab won't violate any law or professional code of ethics that applies to you.
PT Lab stores information coaches and self-coached users enter about training, including:
This information is used solely to power the coaching and programming features of the platform. It is not sold, shared with third parties for advertising, or used to train third-party models.
PT Lab does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. AI-generated routines are exercise programming suggestions, not medical prescriptions. The contents of this app are not medical advice and are not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis, or professional guidance.
Health requirements. Before using PT Lab, you must ensure your general health permits participation in exercise training. If you have or have ever had any of the following conditions, you must consult a qualified healthcare professional and obtain medical clearance before using the app:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding. You must not use PT Lab for exercise programming if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without explicit clearance from your healthcare provider.
Your responsibility during training. PT Lab cannot observe your form, physical environment, or real-time physical state. You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of every exercise, load, and volume recommendation within the context of your individual health and physical condition. This responsibility applies to every session, not only at the time of signup.
You must listen to your body during training. If you experience pain during an exercise, stop immediately and substitute with a comparable movement that does not cause pain. If a recommended weight or number of repetitions feels excessive for your ability, reduce accordingly. You should only train close to muscular failure under the supervision of a competent spotter or training partner.
You exercise at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own safety, form, loading decisions, and knowing when to stop or scale back.
Coach plans. All AI-generated content — routine suggestions, program plans, messaging drafts, coaching insights — requires explicit coach review and approval before it reaches any client. The AI never communicates directly with clients. Coaches bear full responsibility for content they approve and deliver.
Self-coached tier.AI-generated routines are delivered directly to the user without human review. Routines are auto-approved upon generation. An on-screen disclaimer is always shown: “Workouts are AI-generated and not reviewed by a certified professional.” Self-coached users are responsible for assessing the suitability of each exercise for their own situation.
Nature of AI output.AI is probabilistic, not deterministic. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or suggestions that are physically inappropriate for your current fitness level — including unrealistic loading, unsuitable exercise selections, or movement patterns that do not match your stated restrictions. PT Lab makes no guarantee that AI output is safe, accurate, or complete. You agree that all AI-generated content is provided “as-is” and you assume all risk arising from following AI-generated suggestions.
The AI receives anonymized training context — goals, restrictions, problem areas, workout history, check-in data, and recent messages — to generate suggestions. The AI does not receive client names or email addresses.
Clients can access their workouts and communicate with their coach through a web portal. Access is set up through an invite link sent by the coach; the client uses the link to set their own password, then logs in with email and password.
From the client portal, clients can:
Coaches can revoke portal access at any time. Messages between coach and client are visible to the coach and may be used to personalize the client's programming.
Users can sign up directly for AI-generated exercise programming without a coach. Self-coached users fill out their own profile and receive AI-generated routines delivered without human review. Users acknowledge this via an on-screen disclaimer displayed with every routine.
Self-coached users can build multi-week programs by selecting frequency, duration, and training focus. The AI generates a split across the program and releases routines on schedule.
The Self-Coached tier is an experimental feature provided “as-is.” Because there is no human coach reviewing the output, you are solely responsible for evaluating whether any AI-generated exercise, load, or volume recommendation is appropriate for you. You assume all risk from following AI-generated programming without professional oversight.
PT Lab offers optional AI-powered nutrition features for self-coached users, including food suggestions to help meet self-set calorie and macro targets, and weekly nutrition-training alignment insights. These features cost AI credits to use.
Not dietary or medical advice. AI nutrition features provide light informational suggestions for meeting your own macro targets. They are not medical nutrition therapy, dietary counseling, or clinical guidance. AI suggestions are not reviewed by a registered dietitian, nutritionist, or any healthcare professional.
Medical and clinical conditions. If your dietary needs involve a medical condition — including but not limited to diabetes, kidney disease, eating disorders, PCOS, celiac disease, food allergies, IBS, or pregnancy — the AI will decline to provide suggestions and direct you to seek professional guidance. You should not attempt to work around this limitation. If you have a medical condition that affects your diet, consult a registered dietitian or your doctor before acting on any information from this platform.
Accuracy not guaranteed. AI-generated food suggestions may contain inaccurate calorie or macro estimates, suggest inappropriate portion sizes, or recommend foods that do not match your actual preferences, tolerances, or restrictions. You are solely responsible for evaluating whether any food suggestion is appropriate for you.
No supplement guidance. AI nutrition features do not provide guidance on supplements, vitamins, or any ingestible products other than whole foods. The AI is instructed to decline supplement-related questions.
Assumption of risk.By using AI nutrition features, you acknowledge that you are making your own dietary decisions based on AI-generated suggestions provided “as-is” without professional review. PT Lab is not liable for any adverse outcome resulting from following AI-generated food or nutrition suggestions.
AI generations are subject to monthly limits based on your plan:
Program building uses 1 AI generation per week of the program (an 8-week program uses 8 generations). Additional generations can be purchased as recurring monthly AI packs: Top-up (+50) for $7, Standard (+100) for $14, Power (+250) for $32, or Heavy (+500) for $60. Unused generations do not roll over. AI packs can be cancelled or resized at any time; changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
Clients and coaches can upload images and files through the platform:
Uploaded media is used solely within the coaching relationship.
Coaches are responsible for:
You agree not to:
PT Lab monitors usage patterns to detect abuse, including attempts to use the AI for purposes unrelated to exercise programming. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund, and may be reported to law enforcement where appropriate.
PT Lab's software, exercise library, design, branding, AI system prompts, model instructions, and generation logic are owned by PT Lab and protected by intellectual property law. You can't copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute them without written permission, except as needed to use the Service normally.
AI output. You own the workout routines and programs you generate for yourself or your clients. You can modify, print, share, and incorporate them into your coaching work. You can't claim exclusive ownership of AI output against other users — similar generations may naturally arise for other coaches with similar inputs.
System prompts. The prompts, instructions, and configuration used to direct the AI are proprietary to PT Lab. You may not attempt to extract, copy, or replicate PT Lab's AI system prompts or use them outside the platform.
We take reasonable steps to keep your data safe. Your connection to PT Lab is encrypted, your passwords are securely stored (we can't see them), and sessions expire automatically. We limit how often requests can be made to prevent abuse, and we validate everything you upload.
No system is perfectly secure. We follow industry-standard practices for a platform of our size but can't guarantee absolute security.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. If you notice unauthorized use, email [email protected] immediately.
Subscription plans. PT Lab offers monthly and annual subscription plans. By subscribing, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the then-current rate for your selected plan.
Automatic renewal. All subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Downgrades and cancellations. If you downgrade or cancel mid-cycle, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing period. No partial refunds or credits are issued for unused time in the current billing period.
No refunds. All payments are non-refundable. This includes monthly charges, annual charges, and add-on purchases. If you cancel, you retain access through the end of the current paid period.
Free trials.Free trials are limited to one per person. If a trial is offered, you will not be charged during the trial period. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and your payment method will be charged.
Free plans. Free plans (Individual and Starter) are currently available with limited features and capacity. Free plans are subject to change at any time, including modifications to feature sets, limits, pricing, or complete discontinuation. PT Lab reserves the right to modify, limit, or discontinue any free plan at its sole discretion with reasonable notice. Continued availability of any free plan is not guaranteed.
Export controls and regional availability. PT Lab is subject to US export control laws and the acceptable-use policies of its underlying service providers. Access to the platform may not be available in certain regions, and PT Lab reserves the right to restrict access from any country at its sole discretion to comply with applicable law, contracts with service providers, or sanctions programs.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices with 30 days notice. Price changes apply at your next renewal. If you don't agree with a price change, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry the charge or suspend access until payment is resolved. Accounts with failed payments for more than 14 days may be downgraded or suspended.
Slider plan changes. The paid coach plan allows you to resize your client count and AI allowance via the slider at any time. Upgrading is immediate and prorated against your current billing cycle. Downgrading takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle — no partial refunds are issued for the unused portion of the current period.
PT Lab reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for conduct we determine to be in violation of these Terms, harmful to other users, or detrimental to the platform. This includes but is not limited to: abuse of system resources, circumvention of usage limits, fraudulent activity, automated or scripted access, and any use that places unreasonable burden on our infrastructure. Upon termination, access to the platform will be revoked. Data will be retained for 120 days per our retention policy, after which it will be permanently deleted.
PT Lab relies on third-party AI providers and infrastructure services to deliver its features. We are not liable for service interruptions, changes in AI model behavior (“model drift”), degraded output quality, or changes in AI capabilities caused by these third-party providers. If a third-party service experiences an outage, some or all of PT Lab's features may be temporarily unavailable. No refund or credit is issued for downtime caused by third-party providers.
The Service is provided “as-is” and “as-available.” We make no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PT Lab's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, physical injury, or reputational harm — arising from your use of the Service.
You agree to indemnify and hold PT Lab harmless from any claim, loss, or damage (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or third-party right, (c) your use of AI output with your clients, or (d) content you uploaded to the Service.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or through an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Questions about these Terms should go to [email protected]. For press or legal notices, use [email protected].
