Our story

Built by a coach,
for coaches.

PT Lab isn't another AI wrapper. It's a purpose-built exercise programming system designed around the real workflow of a coach who actually trains.

The problem

The problem we kept running into

Every coach knows the drill. A new client signs up, and the real work begins: pulling up a spreadsheet, searching through exercise databases, thinking through progressions, writing out sets and reps, formatting it all into something presentable, and sending it off. Then doing it again next week. And the week after that. For every single client.

The tools that exist today were supposed to help. Instead, most coaching platforms offer clunky template builders, drag-and-drop interfaces that take just as long as a spreadsheet, or — more recently — a generic AI chatbot bolted onto the side. Ask it to “build a routine” and you get something that looks like it was pulled from a beginner fitness blog. No understanding of periodization. No awareness of the client's movement restrictions. No concept of progressive overload or training history.

Coaches were left with a choice: spend hours doing it manually, or trust a tool that didn't understand what it was doing. Neither option was good enough.

What we built

What we built instead

PT Lab was built to fix this. Not by wrapping a generic language model in a fitness skin, but by building real AI workstreams that understand exercise programming from the ground up.

When PT Lab generates a routine, it doesn't guess. It considers the client's goals, training history, movement restrictions, problem areas, available equipment, and the coach's own preferences. It understands the difference between a strength block and a recovery session. It knows when to progress load and when to deload. It suggests real weights based on what the client actually lifted last time, not a generic percentage chart.

The result is coach-quality programming generated in seconds. Complete routines with sets, reps, weight suggestions, form cues, and modifications — all ready for the coach to review, adjust, and release. Nothing goes to the client without the coach's approval.

The difference

Not another AI wrapper

There is a meaningful difference between a generic AI assistant that happens to know some fitness terms and a purpose-built system designed for exercise programming. PT Lab is the latter.

Every part of the platform was designed around the actual workflow of a coach: intake a client, understand their needs, build programming that fits, track their progress, and adapt over time. The AI doesn't just generate text. It works within a broad exercise database with professional videos. It respects constraints like equipment availability and movement restrictions. It follows the coach's own rules — preferred exercises, training philosophy, tone of communication.

Beyond routine generation, PT Lab's AI monitors client engagement, spots who is falling behind, drafts personalized follow-up messages in the coach's voice, and tracks goal progress over time. It handles the work that coaches know matters but rarely have time for.

The mission

Less time on the mundane.
More time on what matters.

Professional-quality exercise programming should be accessible to every coach and every individual. A solo trainer managing 30 clients should have the same tools as a large gym with a staff of ten. An individual training on their own should be able to get programming that actually fits their body and their goals.

The mundane parts of coaching — building spreadsheets, formatting PDFs, sending follow-up texts, wondering who fell off this week — are the parts that drain coaches and limit how many people they can help. PT Lab handles those parts so coaches can spend their time where it actually counts: coaching.
